About

A little about me and where I came from.

The second of nine children, I was raised in a rural Idaho farming community where I learned the values of hard work, honesty, love of God, love of family and love of country. Neither of my parents were hunters but, among many other good values, they taught me love of the outdoors as we went on many camping, fishing and hiking adventures.

I’m not sure were I got my passion for hunting, (probably from my paternal grandfather who was an accomplished rancher, big game guide and outdoorsman in Arizona) but I recall craving hunting adventures from the time I was a little boy. I received some mentoring in hunting from Grandad Lee and also my good friends the Peterson family, but I mostly self-taught myself the craft of hunting. I recall reading every book and magazine and watching every hunting video I could find to educate myself.

As a young man I had many great experiences including boy scout activity, military service in the Idaho Army National Guard, as well as a 2 year mission for my Church, all of which further helped shape who I am. I also honed my skills as a hunter. Together with my friends Glen and Brian Peterson, we developed into successful hunters which resulted in all of us eventually harvesting deer and elk with archery tackle. Brian and Glen continue as some of the best hunters I know.

I always had the dream of living in Alaska. After college I got a job offer to work here in the Mat-Su School District. So my loyal and strong wife Shaunna and I, along with our 2-year-old twin boys, moved up. We have since added 1 girl and three more boys to our family. We built our own log home and have found that Alaska is a great place to raise our family.

When first here I jumped right into learning how to hunt Alaska and partook in its bounteous wildlife. I have harvested dall sheep, moose, caribou, black bear, and mountain goat. Alaska has not disappointed me and this truly is the greatest place in the world to live as a hunter.

I eventually met Mont Mahoney and started working for him as a packer for his dall sheep guiding service. I soon was promoted to work as an assistant guide. I have guided 15 different sheep hunts for Mont all of which have resulted in each hunter going home safely and happily with a beautiful ram. I’ve also worked for Triple C outfitters and guided several successful bear hunts for them.

Now as a registered guide I want to take the values, knowledge and experience I have gained over the years to create my own successful guiding operation. I love helping other hunters fulfill their dreams of experiencing Alaska and taking home an animal of a lifetime. It is so very rewarding.
